Theodosius I, with Arcadius and Honorius (?), 383-395. Seal (Lead, 21 mm, 4.63 g). DDD NNN AVGG[G] ('Our Lords, the emperors') / KVPVRO... Draped bust of Theodosius I facing, flanked by two other draped, imperial busts facing. Rev. Textile imprint. Cf. Leu Web Auction 10 (2019), 1751 and Leukel N150. A very interesting imperial seal type. Minor surface roughness, otherwise, very fine.

From an important collection of Roman and Byzantine seals, tesserae and amulets, formed before 2021.

This seal type, featuring three frontal busts, is reminiscent of contemporary Exagia Nummi, weights used for solidi.
